Couple mark golden date

FORT LORAMIE — Ruth and Vernon Drees, of Fort Loramie, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary, on a trip with their children and grandchildren.

Vernon and the former Ruth Frenzer were married April 1, 1967, in the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary Catholic Church in Cassella.

The Rev. Edward Vanderhaar performed the ceremony on a day beautiful with sunny skies and comfortable temperatures. Witnesses were Karen Frenzer, Dianne Grilliot, Norma Gaier, Jackie DeLoye, Louis Drees, Ray Drees, Danny Martin, Mike Busse and Leon DeLoye. The wedding Mass was at 10 a.m. and the celebration continued all day. Lunch and dinner were provided to the couple’s guests. The couple had met at a dance at the Carousel in Celina.

Vernon is the son of the late Hildreth and John Drees. He has four brothers, Bill Drees, of Vandalia, Fred Drees, of Russia, and Louis Drees and Ray Drees, both of Fort Loramie. A sister, Norma Gaier, is deceased.

Ruth is the daughter of the late Agatha and Urban Frenzer. She has two brothers, David Frenzer, of Celina, and Joe Frenzer, of St. Henry, and two living sisters, Phyllis Martin, of Celina, and Joan Reeder, of Lima. Another sister, MaryLou Homan, is deceased.

The Dreeses have two daughters, Robyn Arnold, of Fort Loramie, and Melinda Davenport, of St. Paris. They have five grandchilden.

Vernon retired from Dannon Yogurt. Ruth retired from Sears, in Piqua.

The couple attend St. Michael Catholic Church in Fort Loramie. They enjoy fishing, cheering on their grandchildren’s sports teams and spending time with their family and friends.
