FT. LORAMIE —The Sidney Daily News welcomes Tom Wisener as its new Ft. Loramie area correspondent.

Wisener retired as a teacher with the Ft. Loramie schools in 2011, and today serves as the 9th grade boys’ coach and assistant athletic director for the district.

He was born and raised in Wapakoneta, graduating from Wapakoneta High School in 1975, and The Ohio State University in 1979, with a bachelor of science in education. In August 1979, Wisener was hired to teach 4th grade in Fort Loramie, when he moved to the community.

Through the years, Wisener has taught 4th-8th grade — all at Fort Loramie. The last 15 years he taught reading/language arts in the 8th grade. He also was a bus driver for 25 years and has coached basketball, baseball, track, and golf at various levels.

Wisener also has served on the Fort Loramie Rescue Squad since 1982. For 21 years, he was an EMT and since then has been a driver. He also volunteers in the Shelby County CASA program (Court Appointed Special Advocate) and is currently the guardian ad-litem to 4 children.

Wisener will be submitting news from the Ft. Loramie area for the new Sidney Daily News Ft. Loramie community page, which runs on Wednesdays. He invites Ft. Loramie-area clubs, organizations, churches, schools and individuals to contact him with news for the page by calling 937-295-2244 or by emailing him at [email protected].
