PORT JEFFERSON — The Stokes Chapter Order of Eastern Star No. 543 in Port Jefferson celebrated its 70th anniversary during its Sept. 12 meeting.

Members wore the same colors that had been worn at the charter meeting in 1946 and they sang the same songs that were sung then.

Worthy Matron Jenna Geuy provided a history of the chapter, which was started with help from Sidney’s Pleiades chapter.

Phyllis Evans and Richard Zimpher were honored for 50 years of service to the chapter. Ruth Adams, who was a charter member, was recognized with a 70-year pin and a bouquet of flowers.

A social time followed the meeting.
