Kiwanis Club hosts Ohio District governor

SIDNEY — The Kiwanis Club of Sidney hosted a meeting of Kiwanians from throughout Divisions 2 and 3, Nov. 16.

Ohio District Gov. Bill Flinta, from Stow, presented the Governor’s First Family Project, “Today’s Readers, Tomorrow’s Leaders.” He listed 102 possible projects for clubs to do and asked that clubs include Key Clubs and Aktion Clubs in the effort.

Attending clubs donated $1,300 to him for the project.

Representatives from clubs in Sidney, Coldwater, Celina, Lima, St. Marys, Ada, Bellefontaine, New Madison,Piqua and Troy and the Sidney Aktion Club were in attendance. Also attending were Division 2 Lt. Gov. Molly Hay, of Coldwater; Division 3 Lt. Gov. John Coffield, of Sidney; Key Club Division 3 Lt. Gov. Ashley Ho, of Piqua; and Kiwanis Ohio District Foundation President David Kuhn, of Stow.

Flinta presented Legion of Honor awards to Sidney members Gary Carter, a 25-year past president; Gary Hollenbacher, Rick Lunsford and Phil Warnecke, 30-year past presidents; and Phil Freytag, a 50-year past president. Flinta also presented Ohio Kiwanis Governor’s Certificates of Recognition to Hay and Coffield.
