MINSTER — The 2017 Minster Oktoberfest has announced that the theme of the parade will be “Familie, Freunde, Prost!,” which means “Family, Friends, Cheers!”

All floats judged under Junior Civic, Senior Civic or Commercial categories are also eligible for the “Best of Theme” prize. Prizes of $300 and $200 will be awarded.

Anyone interested in entering a float or participating in the parade should send contact information to [email protected].

Parade organizers also are accepting nominations for the 2017 grand marshal. The deadline for nominations is July 1.

To nominate someone, send a letter stating reasons why the nominee — person or organization — deserves this title. Mail entries to Minster Oktoberfest Parade, P.O. Box 77, Minster OH 45865, or email them to [email protected].

To be eligible to be named grand marshal, the nominee must be a resident (current or past) of the Minster School District, must have benefited the residents of the Minster community through volunteer work, not normal job duties, and cannot have received money or benefits for the work.

Only applications received this year will be considered.
