SIDNEY — Deb Sanders, director of marketing at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, and Kim Doak, branch manager of US Bank, will present a program about identity theft, May 24, at 2 p.m., at Ohio Living Dorothy Love, 3003 S. Cisco Road.

The program is free, but reservations can be made at 497-6543. Attendees will learn how to minimize risk of loss by following a few simple hints.

Identity theft is a serious crime. It can disrupt finances, credit history and reputation, and take time, money and patience to resolve. Identity theft happens when someone steals personal information and uses it without permission.

Criminals can get the information they need to assume an identity from a variety of sources, including by stealing a wallet, rifling through trash, or by compromising credit or bank information. They may approach a mark in person, by telephone or on the Internet and ask for the information.
