SIDNEY — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office has seen an influx of citizens obtaining their concealed carry weapons permits since the horrendous acts of violence in France, Shelby County Sheriff John Lenhart said.

In the past week, the Sheriff’s Office has processed 50 CCWs for people in the county and surrounding counties. The sheriff wants to remind everyone if you want to obtain, your CCW you can obtain a current form printable from the Sheriffs’s Office website at www.shelbycountysheriff.com or you can pick up one at the office.

To obtain your CCW, you will need to fill out the form, attached a photo to the form, along with a copy of your firearms certificate and $67 if you’re a county or adjacent county resident and have been a resident of Ohio for a period of more than five years. If you have not been a resident of Ohio for more than five years, the cost of a CCW permit is $90. Bring in the form along with payment to the office; a background check will also be conducted at that time. You will receive a call when your permit is ready to be picked up.

The office accepts applications from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and from 8 to 11 a.m. on Saturday.
