Davis Meats honors county’s heroes

SIDNEY — Police officers, firefighters and EMTs in Shelby and Miami counties will enjoy a tribute on Friday, July 22. The employees and owners of Davis Meats will serve them with a meal to honor their dedication to the community.

“Really it was the staff. They talked about doing it, and they talked to us about it, and we told them to go for it. So, they put a sign out on the board of ours outside, and it kind of snowballed from there,” said owner Ted Davis.

The community is in support of the action being taken by Davis meats and has shown that to the staff and owners.

“I even had a gentleman stop in the other day and give us a check to offset the cost. He thought it was a great idea. We didn’t expect that. I told him he didn’t have to do it, but he said he wanted to,” said Davis.

The gesture is received by the local offices with much appreciation.

“It’s marvelous that they’re showing support for the public safety services. It’s a wonderful gesture by a local business,” said Cameron Haller, deputy fire chief of Sidney.

The meals, consisting of a pulled pork sandwich, a side, and bottled water, will be provided from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. Public safety officers can get their meals at that time.

Davis Meats, located at 1243 Wapakoneta Ave., sells lunches to the public Monday through Saturday. Their website can be viewed at www.davismeatmarket.com
