Steve Staley, far left, observes as Piqua Assistant Fire Chief Paul Brown, bottom and Sidney Fire Lt. Dallas Davis, practice a forced entry of a commercial door on Piqua Fire Department’s new Fire Force, Inc. training system, on Tuesday. The system allows firefighters to hone their skills at making a forcible entry through either commercial or residential doors of both inswing and outswing configurations. Staley was on hand, representing the Piqua Community Foundation, whose generosity helped to purchase the valuable training tool.
Lt. Dallas Davis of the Sidney Fire Department participates in a training exercise on the Piqua Fire Department’s new Fire Force, Inc. Forced Entry Door Trainer at the Piqua Fire Station on Tuesday. Increasingly, fire departments are pooling their resources and sharing training. Not only does this give both full-time and volunteer firefighters more opportunity to train, it allows firefighters from difference agencies to train together and become familiar with each other making things better for mutual aide situations. The Fire Force, Inc. Forced Entry Training System was purchased though a grant from the Piqua Community Foundation.
