January 16, 1917

Representative Wildermuth, of Shelby County, has introduced his first bill in the Ohio legislature. It has to do with the dedication of certain lands at Loramie reservoir for public park purposes. Wildermuth has been assigned to the following committees: banks and banking, civil service, insurance and judiciary.

At a meeting of the dry forces in Shelby County this week, Harry Oldham was elected county chairman, Elwood Clark, secretary; and W.A. Graham, treasurer. Dr. J.W. Costolo, Rev. W.B. Love, H.W. Robinson, Rev. S.Z. Smith, and Charles F. Snyder were elected delegates to the state convention.

75 Years

January 16, 1942

Defense councils have been named by Van Buren township and the village of Botkins. Members of the Van Buren local defense group are Mrs. Grace Michael, Joe Meyer, Warren Carey, John Widney, and Charles Rehfus. At Botkins, V.H. Blanke will serve as executive director, and J.H.M. Schurr as chairman.

Miss Leona Spoltman, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Edward Spoltman, received her nurse cap at graduation exercises at Good Samaritan Hospital in Dayton last night.

50 Years

January 16, 1967

Two presidents of the Sidney Chamber of Commerce will be looking — one back and the other ahead – when the annual membership dinner meeting is held Thursday evening.

William Rhees, retiring president, is expected to review his past year at the helm of the chamber, while challenging incoming officers.

Robert Sargeant, new president, will forecast an optimistic year of programming expected to bring some innovations developed for the benefit of the business community.

Miss Mary E. Humphrey, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James P. Humphrey, 612 Park Street, has been named to the dean’s list at Tennessee A and I State University.

Miss Humphrey is a 1966 graduate of Sidney High School. She is studying in the field of elementary education.

25 Years

January 16, 1992

Sidney attorney Priscilla Hax has again been accepted for membership in the Ohio State Bar Association College. The purpose of the college is to recognize members who maintain and enhance their professional skills and quality of their service to the public by participating in continuing legal education. It is the ninth consecutive year Ms. Hax has been a member of the Ohio State Association College since its inception in 1983.

Robert M. Jameson has been named assistant vice president for indirect consumer lending at Bank One Sidney. Jameson’s promotion was announced by Bank One President John C. Hoying. Jameson joined Bank One in March 1991.
