Fire, EMS responds to 393 calls

SIDNEY — In December, personnel of the Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services responded to 298 EMS calls and 95 fire calls for a total of 393 calls compared to 311 calls in December 2015.

Training consisted of general EMS, cardiac, continuing education for fire inspector, pump operations, hazmat, structural collapse, vehicle/machinery rescue and commercial vehicle fires.

The fire prevention division performed 48 inspections, with 13 re-inspections and 15 annual inspections. Twenty smoke detectors and three carbon monoxide detectors were handed out in December. Prevention also investigated two structure fires within the city at 320 N. Main Ave. and 420 N. Wagner Ave.

Sidney Fire Department’s mascot Sparky participated in the “Stuff the Bus” Battle of the Mascots at Walmart as part of the 105.5 and Salvation Army’s Christmas project.
