SIDNEY — Icy road conditions late Thursday night led to Interstate 75 being closed after a six-vehicle pileup near the Fair Road exit.

Around 11 p.m., icy roads caused a chain reaction as drivers lost control on the roads.

According to Sidney Daily News partner, WDTN-TV 2, while a Trooper from the Piqua Post of the Ohio Highway Patrol was investigating the crash, another vehicle lost control and struck the Trooper’s patrol car. The vehicle then struck another vehicle that had already been involved in a previous crash.

The crash pushed the vehicle driven by Kenneth Tennyson, 80, of Monroe, Michigan, into Trooper Anthony Kuhn. He was transported to Upper Valley Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries.

At least to semi-tractor trailers were involved in the crash. One car was flipped on its top during the crash.

The Ohio Department of Transportation was dispatched to the scene to salt the ice-covered road.

Assisting at the scene were officers from the Sidney Police Department and firefighters and EMT’s from the Sidney Fire Department.

I-75 was closed until approximately 2:30 a.m. Friday.
