MINSTER — Rich Prenger, of Minster, has been appointed fire chief of the Minster-Jackson Township Volunteer Fire Department.

A Minster native, Prenger has served on the fire squad since summer, 1987. He became an officer in 1992 and has been the assistant fire chief for the last five years.

“It’s a big responsibility,” he told the Sidney Daily News, Wednesday. “It’s no easy task giving commands to people to do stuff that’s dangerous. It’s nothing anybody in fire service takes lightly.”

Prenger is a mechanic for Brinkman Service in Minster. He and his wife, Stacy, have a son, Brian, of Mason, and a daughter, Stephanie Ernst, of Apollo Beach, Florida. The Prengers have just returned from a trip to Florida, where they celebrated the birth of their first grandchild.
