Couple celebrates 60 years

LAKEVIEW — Marilyn and Wayne Gross, of Lakeview, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary, Aug. 5, 2018, at an open house from 2 to 4 p.m. at 10795 county Road 293, Lakeview, with family and friends.

They ask that gifts be omitted.

Wayne and the former Marilyn Staley were married Aug. 3, 1958, in the St. Jacob Lutheran Church in Anna. Witnesses were matron of honor Beverly Scott (Clawson), best man Bill Magoteaux, attendants Sandy Gross (Shepler), sister of the bridegroom, Mickie Muellen (Russell), cousin of the bridegroom, Virginia Stewart (Thompson), cousin of the bride, Harvey Staley, brother of the bride, Ora Stewart, cousin of the bride, Wayne Muellen, uncle of the bridegroom, flower girl Dianne Staley (Emmerich), and ring bearer Russ Stewart. The couple honeymooned in Maine and Put-in-Bay. They had met at the Shelby County Fair.

Wayne is the son of the late Merild and Goldie Gross. He has one sister, Sandy Shepler of St Paul, Minnesota.

Marilyn is the daughter of the late Paul Staley and Dean Smith. She has two brothers and a sister-in-law, Mac and Shirley Staley, of Taveras, Florida, and Harvey Staley, of Fort Myers Beach, Florida; and two sisters and brothers-in-law, Paula and Jim McRoy, of New Philadelphia, and Dianne Emmerich and partner Steve Barry, of Fort Myers, Florida.

The Grosses have three daughters and sons-in-law, Cindy Raybern and partner Terry Kumro, of Winchester, Tennessee, Melinda Hoffman and partner Don Bornhorst, of Sidney, and Marla and Terry Bayliss, of Sidney; and one son and daughter-in-law, Duane and Kristi Gross, of Lakeview. They have four grandchildren and one great grandchild.

Wayne is retired from Sidney Daily News and Marilyn retired from Primary Eye Care. They have enjoyed their retirement on the shores of Indian Lake and spending time with family.
