PHILADELPHIA — Pet Valu, a specialty retailer of premium pet food, treats, toys and accessories, will host a chain-wide adoption weekend today and Sunday in the hopes of finding forever homes for homeless and abandoned animals.

Representatives from local shelters will be on-site to play matchmaker between the animals and prospective pet owners this Valentine’s Day weekend.

“Pet Valu is proud of its efforts that contribute to over 2.7 million shelter animal adoptions each year in the U.S. ” said Joe Dent, vice president and U.S. general manager for Pet Valu. “We believe in love at first sight, and we’re hoping to help create connections this Valentine’s Day that’ll last a lifetime.”
