BATAVIA — US Business Executive, a TrueLine Publishing-owned business-to-business trade journal striving to build strong connections within the many sectors of the U.S. agricultural industry, compiles an annual Best of the United States (BOTUS) list which recognizes companies across the country.

These companies commit their enterprises to success, satisfied employees, and superior products.

One of US Business Executive’s most significant list toppers for 2016 includes Robert Winner Sons Inc. (RWS), based in Osgood.

“Eighty-eight years ago, our founder and grandfather, Robert F. Winner, began slaughtering hogs and cattle in a barn and processing the meat for family and friends,” said Brian Winner, president of RWS. “Today, our company operates two processing plants, a retail store, a livestock trucking firm, farms 600 plus acres, capacity to raise 120 head of cattle and support 5,000 hogs.”

With the fourth generation now actively involved in ownership of RWS, the family operates two processing plants that offer custom butchering, retail meats and an array of homemade specialty products, including an award-winning Blue Ribbon Bologna and summer sausage. In 2016, the company won seven additional awards at the annual Ohio Association of Meat Processors convention in the product competition. Both RWS processing plants have live hog-buying stations to accommodate the local farmers in the area as well as fresh meat cases where the company sells all of its homemade products. In addition to livestock and farming operations, Winner Transport Inc. has a fleet of trucks that haul livestock to farms and meat packers across 18 states.

2016 BOTUS nominees will be recognized in a special edition of US Business Executive released in the fall.
