SIDNEY — The parent company of a Sidney manufacturer has notified the Ohio Department of Job & Family Services that it will lay off employees effective June 30.
Jessica Palladino, corporate human resource director of ConForm Automotives, sent the letter on April 21 concerning the mass layoff of up to 49 employees from the Sidney facility located at 1630 Ferguson Court.
In a press release received Monday, Palladino said, “Due to a large loss of business from a customer, ConForm Automotive has found itself in a position of needing to realign and reduce the size of our workforce. We are saddened to report that these difficult business decisions will have a lasting impact on our most valuable asset, our employees.
“It is after great thought and consideration that we announce that we will be conducting a mass layoff of our workforce at our 1630 Ferguson Court, Sidney, Ohio location. Effective July 1st, a significant amount of our employees will experience a permanent layoff,” the press release continued.
“At this time, we have communicated directly with any employee who will sustain a job loss due to the event. We are currently working with local and state officials in Ohio to assist the employees who have been identified to lose their roles.”
In the letter to Jobs and Family Services, Palladino wrote, “It is anticipated that there will be a mass layoff effective June 30, 2017, impacting approximately 49 employees,” Palladino wrote in the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notice (WARN). “It is expected that these action(s) will be permanent. Bumping rights do not exist at the facility.”
Positions affected by the layoffs include process engineers; die repair workers; maintenance employees; fork lift operators, quality personnel, trash haulers, superintendents, robotics controllers, assemblers and others.
A WARN letter is required by state law to be sent to Job & Family Services.
ConForm has a second location in Sidney at 250 S. Stolle Ave.
The headquarters of ConForm Automotive is located in Bingham Farms, Michigan. It has other companies in Shelby Township, Michigan, Lansing, Michigan, Sumter, South Carolina, Auburn, Maine, and Saltillo, Mexico.
