SIDNEY — A Piqua man was critically injured after a motorcycle crash Saturday, July 2.
According to the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office, Jerome Hester, 38, of Piqua, was transported by CareFlight to Miami Valley Hospital, Dayton, following the one-vehicle crash. He is in critical condition.
Hester was traveling northbound on state Route 66 Saturday at 8:18 p.m. at a very high rate of speed. Hester lost control of his motorcycle while negotiating a slight left turn and went off the right side of the road. The motorcycle went down, throwing Hester into the air and into a corn field. The motorcycle then tumbled along in the ditch.
Hester was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Assisting at the scene were fire and EMS units from Piqua and Houston, along with CareFlight personnel.
The accident remains under investigation.
