Driver flees scene of accident

SIDNEY — The driver of a vehicle involved in a two-vehicle accident Sunday morning is being sought by the Shelby County Sheriff’s Office.

According to a press release from the office, a 911 call was received at 2:22 a.m. Sunday for an injury accident at the intersection of Schenk and Kuther roads.

The preliminary investigation showed that a 1997 Cadillac Deville was westbound on Schenk Road and failed to stop for a posted stop sign at the Kuther Road intersection. The driver of the Cadillac proceeded through the intersection and struck a 2003 Chevrolet S-10 that was northbound on Kuther Road.

The driver of the Cadillac was not located at the scene, indicating he/she fled following the accident. A passenger in the Cadillac sustained injures and is cooperating with the investigation.

The driver of the Chevrolet sustained serious injuries as a result of the accident.

Sidney Fire and Rescue, along with assistance from Houston Rescue personnel, responded to the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet was transported by Sidney medics to Wilson Health for treatment.

There are charges pending for the driver of the Cadillac. The accident remains under investigation by the Sheriff’s Office.
