Lockington residents indicted for meth lab, marijuana bust

SIDNEY — The residents of a home that was searched in August, resulting in the discovery of a meth lab and 64 marijuana plants, were formally indicted Wednesday morning by a Shelby County Grand Jury.

Brett Edwards, 52, and Kelly Mossburg, 53, both of Lockington, were both indicted on one count each of illegal manufacture of drugs, illegal assembly or possession of chemicals for manufacture of drugs, aggravated possession of drugs, and illegal cultivation of marijuana.

They are accused of manufacturing methamphetamine, possessing the chemicals to make methamphetamine, and possessing an amount of methamphetamine that equals or exceeds bulk but is less than five times bulk.

They are also accused of cultivating an amount of marijuana that equals or exceeds 5,000 grams but is less than 20,000 grams.

The Sidney Daily News reported at the time Shelby County Sheriff’s Deputies, along with Bureau of Criminal Investigation agents found the 64 marijuana plants at 10320 Black Fox Trail during a marijuana search of the area by helicopter. Because of the number of plants found, a search warrant for the residence was obtained. Once inside the residence, deputies and agents located a clandestine meth lab, and bulk amounts of methamphetamine.

The delay in presentation to the grand jury was because they were waiting for all the lab results back, including weights and analysis of the different drugs and evidence seized.
