Crashes

Shelby County Sheriff Deputies responded to a two-vehicle crash on Dawson Road in Cynthian Township Wednesday at 3 p.m.

Geralyn Schemmel, 27, of Maria Stein, was traveling northbound on Dawson Road and was attempting the turn in the road too fast for the road conditions, began to skid, over corrected, crossed the center line and struck the left rear tire of the southbound vehicle driven by Jeffrey Grillot, 36, of Piqua. The impact caused Grillot’s vehicle to skid off to the right side of the road. Then, the vehicle driven by Alan Wendel, 49, of Osgood, went into a ditch to avoid Schemmel’s vehicle as it skidded across both lanes and drove through some debris. Schemmel’s vehicle continued off the left side of the pavement, struck a turn caution sign and came to a rest in a yard.

Wendel’s vehicle did not contact either other vehicle and only drove through a rough ditch.

Schemmel’s vehicle sustained heavy left front corner damage. Grillot’s vehicle suffered drive train, axle, wheel and left rear corner damage. Both Schemmel and Grillots’ vehicles were towed from the scene.
