SIDNEY — The Shelby County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a suicide that occurred in the 400 block of Knoop-Johnston Road Thursday.

The Sheriff’s Office identified the victim as Timothy B. Fogt, 49, of Sidney

Shortly after 9:30 p.m., deputies were dispatched to Knoop-Johnston Road on the report of a suicidal man with a gun, Sheriff John R. Lenhart said. When deputies arrived on scene, they found the man sitting in the driver’s seat of his vehicle. Deputies tried to make contact with the man, but he would not respond to the officers. Just minutes after the deputies arrived, the man shot himself in the head with a handgun. He died instantly.

The Shelby County Coroner and Perry-Port-Salem Rescue responded to the scene. The case remains under investigation.
