JACKSON CENTER — On Wednesday, Feb. 4, members of the Jackson Center FFA Chapter helped to host a Recruitment Day for seventh and eighth graders at Jackson Center High School.

During the activities members had the opportunity to demonstrate their agriscience and FFA knowledge while answering questions for younger students who might consider enrolling in an agricultural course for the 2016-2017 school year.

Middle school students had the opportunity to learn about the meaning of FFA and some of the travel and leadership opportunities available to them as well as about some of the Career Development Events (CDEs) and course work that they would have the opportunity to participate in.

Overall, the day was a success with approximately 85 students participating in activities like food science, small engines, shop/ lab work and general livestock judging.

Middle school students participate in a taste test while learning about the Food Science Career Development Events offered at the high school level.
