BOTKINS — The Botkins Board of Education met Wednesday evening to approve the budget for the 2017 fiscal year. In addition they hired substitutes and other staff members.

They hired the following as substitute teachers: Amanda Frey, Kim Cordonnier, Claire Pusey, Christine Miller, Amy Pleiman, Samantha Riffell, Rene Geise, Angelique Ranly, Aubrey Rodriguez, Nathan Epperson, Donald Lee, Wendy Uhlenhake, and Hailey Billing.

They hired the following as substitute educational assistants: Deb Zimpfer, and Kelly Liesner.

They hired the following as substitute cafeteria staff and educational assistants: Jill Steinke, and Emily Gill.

The board approve the following student athletic workers at minimum wage as presented: Micah Smock, Ethan Butcher, Luke Bergman, Xavier Pax, Alexis Jones, Josh Miller, Bryce Metz, Maddie Steinke, Dani Schneider, Alex Bergman, Kayla Kohler, Danielle Schwartz, and Tyler Swank.

They moved to allow Debbie Faulder to transition to a one-on-one aide and hire Kendra Berryman as the educational/special needs aide.

The board hired the following extracurricular positions: Roberta “Bobbie” Young for RoBotkins, and Keith Puschel for lighting and sound musical assistant director.

They also hired the following volunteers:

• Roslyn Stutsman, first grade

• Deb Zimpfer, kindergarten

• Judy Thaman, third grade

• Judith Sanchez, not assigned yet to a grade or teacher

• Cathy Bajwa, cafeteria one to two days per week

• Annie Zink, first grade

Finally at the meeting they accepted donations of $200 from Trupointe for the BEES fund and $2529.77 from Botkins Soccer Club for the High School Boys’ soccer uniforms.
