SIDNEY — The Academia Teams from Sidney, Russia and Botkins high schools were the winners of the first match of the year.

In the match hosted by Houston High School, Russia placed first with 47 points. Lehman Catholic was second with 43 points. Houston scored 24 points.

Sidney won the match hosted by Jackson Center by scoring 60 points. Anna High School was second with 45 points. Jackson Center scored 23 points.

Botkins hosted the third match and the home school was the winner with 46 points. Fort Loramie scored 43 points. Fairlawn scored 26 points.

After the first week of play, Sidney is in the lead with 60 points. Russia is second with 47 points, while Botkins has 46 points for third place.

There were two challenges in the matches. Sidney was awarded two points.
