Botkins students honored for excellence by board

BOTKINS — At the Botkins Local Schools Board of Education regular November meeting, the board adopted resolutions of comendations for:

• The Livestock Judging Team who placed 7th at the Keystone International Livestock Judging Contest

• Austin Fullenkamp, who was a Regional Cross Country Qualifier

• Kaleb Hanby, a two time WOSL Player of the Year, tied most career goals (59), set new school records in most career assists (34), total points in a career (152) and most assists in a season (15).

• Grace Homan, who set a new school record in most saves in a game (31) and most saves in a season (200).

• Paige Lane, who set a new school record in Most Steals in a Game (23).

Also at the meeting the board approved to purchase a single person scissor lift from Equipment Depot. They approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the Investment report and cash balance report as presented. The board also voted to join the Shelby County Chamber of Commerce for the 2017 year at a cost of $95.

The board approved Cindy Cox as a Kindergarten volunteer and Seth Hoying, Gabe Lawrence, and Josh Schwartz as junior high basketball volunteers.

They also hired Dennis Martin as varsity baseball coach, and Jason Jones as varsity baseball assistant coach.
