Boerger elected Botkins School Board President

BOTKINS — On Jan. 11, the Botkins Board of Education met to reorganize for 2017 and hold a regular meeting.

The board elected Neil Boerger as board president for the 2017 calendar year. Board Member Jack Koenig had been the board president for the past several years.

They elected Mark Goubeaux as vice president.

The board appointed board members to committees, and made other designations and authorizations.

They set regular meeting dates for 2017 as the second Wednesday of each month at 7 p.m. in the school’s media center.

The board set the compensation for Botkins Board of Education members at $40 per meeting for calendar year 2017 with compensation not to exceed 12 meetings per year.

A mileage rate of 50 cents a mile was set for board members, teachers, administrators and classified staff members for attending professional meeting and when conducting school business.

The board voted to approve participation in the following for 2017-18 school year: All Federal/Title funds associated with the CCIP, free lunch program, Vo-Ag matching grant, Ohio K-12 network, etech-REAP, and AP Virtual Learning.

During the regular part of the meeting the board adopted the 2017-18 school calendar and bus routes as presented.

They also hired Brad Bergman as a substitute bus driver; Alexa Counts as a substitute teacher; and Ashleigh Ratermann as recycling coordinator.

The board approved the Treasurer’s report by fund, the investment report and cash balance report as presented.

The cost of drivers education was set at $275 for students and $325 for non-students for the 2017-18 school year.

The board approved the National Honor Society’s service project to Kentucky, March 10-12, 2017 and recognized indoor track for the 2017 season.
