FORT LORAMIE — Thanks to the Fort Loramie Local Schools Athletic Boosters, the field used by the Fort Loramie baseball team will have some new astroturf and a new windscreen.
The Fort Loramie Board of Education accepted a donation during its meeting, Monday, March 20, of $3,794.21. The gift made by the boosters will support the purchase of the windscreen and turf.
“It’s part of the dugout facility project,” said Superintendent Dan Holland. The turf will be put atop concrete aprons that are in front of the dugout and on the deck of batter circles.
“It helps with wear and tear from going out onto the field (from the dugout),” Holland said. The windscreen will sit in center field and replace a former one.
The board also accepted donations of $100 by the Fort Loramie American Legion to support a veterans program and of $130.28 by an anonymous donor to support a Washington, D.C., field trip.
In other action, the board:
• Approved a resolution accepting tax rates for 2017/2018.
• Approved membership in the Sheakley Workers Compensation Group Rate Plan with an administrative fee of $146.
• Approved a resolution for an enterprise agreement between the village of Fort Loramie and Wayne Trail Technologies Inc. and waived the 45-day advance notice requirement of the Ohio Revised Code.
• Adopted new and revised policies.
• Approved the advance of five sick days for Julie M. Goldschmidt per the negotiated agreement. Certified staff may request an advance of up to five sick days.
• Accepted the resignation of Dennis Prenger as National Honor Society adviser, effective for the 2017/2018 school year, and of Bryce Stewart as junior varsity assistant baseball coach, effective immediately.
• Hired Georgia Gaier and Damon Smith as track assistants and LeAnn Martin and Scott Rodeheffer as volunteer track coaches for the 2016-2017 school year.
• Approved Katelyn and Lauren Poeppelman as tuition students for the 2017-2018 school year.
