Ben Sommer has traded the well-known Sommer Hotel in Minster to Mr. Trieber, of Osgood. Mr. Sommer secures a farm from Mr. Trieber, the hotel being a part payment on the transaction. It is presumed the new hotel owner will take personal charge. The Sommer Hotel is among the best known moderate sized hostelries in this part of the state.

Hugo J. Antony, of Sidney, is listed as one of the incorporators of the Buckeye Teachers’ Agency of Dayton. With a capital stock of $4,000, the agency was organized for the purpose of procuring positions for teachers.

In concert, General Platoff’s Don Cossack choir, attired in red, white and blue costumes, lifted their voices high in tribute to old Russia last evening in the Sidney High School auditorium in the initial program arranged for Sidney music lovers under the auspices of the local Cooperative Concert Association. The group is making its third tour of the United States.

The annual toy matinee, sponsored by the Sidney Rotary Club in conjunction with the Warner Ohio Theater and for the benefit of the Charity League toy hospital, will be held Tuesday at 4 p.m. it was announced today. Arrangements for the affair have been completed by Elmo Arthur, Rotary chairman; Clarence Sietz, manager of the theater; and Miss Marjorie Potter, toy hospital chairman. The admission price will be a toy either new or used.

CLEVELAND — It’s all over but the shouting, but Cleveland Browns head coach Blanton Collier says the club “will still play them one by one.” The Browns clinched their second straight Eastern Division title in the National Football League yesterday with a resounding 42 – 21 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers.

The baseball season is over but workmen are busy these days at Crosley Field as they follow plans of Cincinnati Reds’ President William O. DeWitt to make improvements for the convenience and comfort of the fans. DeWitt revealed one of the projects at the present time is to replace many of the old type seats at Crosley Field with the new contour, riser type seat. Three thousand five hundred and eighty five (3,585) new seats at a cost of $62,500 will replace old seats.

Sidney is in the national news, but some might argue, not in a good way. Sidney resident and businesswoman Stacey Arthur was previously selected as Mrs. Ohio. It was announced today that Mrs. Arthur will not only be the January 1991 Playmate of the Month, but she will be on the cover of Playboy magazine. The editor of Playboy stated that it is “not common” for a woman to get the cover and the centerfold. In the interview, Arthur explained that she told her husband Jim that they should call Playboy while in Chicago on a business trip because she had always dreamed of being in the magazine. She was surprised at her selection, Mrs. Arthur also was asked why she liked small towns. She answered, “$1.50 movies and family life.” Her reasons for not liking small town life were, “closed-minded people, non-supportive people and slow drivers.” It is safe to assume extra copies of the magazine will sold in Shelby County.
