Wrapped in God’s Love planned at YMCA

SIDNEY — The Holy Angels Parish Outreach Committee is offering an invitation to anyone interested in participating in a unique and rewarding opportunity: Wrapped in God’s Love. The purpose of the program is to offer an opportunity to meet with other individuals who have a heart for serving and helping others. The next gathering is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 19, at the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA from 1 to 3 p.m.

All participants who attend the Wrapped in God’s Love event will be given an opportunity to learn how to sew (if you don’t know how to already). The projects include making simple little dresses and shorts for needy children, security blankets for hospitalized children in the area, knitting or crocheting prayer shawls, sewing Beads of Courage Bags and various other projects that will benefit a number of children both locally and from around the world. As mentioned, to participate you do not need to know how to sew, knit or crochet and there is no cost or need to register to be a part of this event.

Participants are welcome to bring their own service sewing project to work on, along with their own sewing machine, but neither are required. In addition, depending on what type of service project a person hopes to work on, the person might want to consider bringing a pair of sewing scissors, a minimum of 40 inches by 40 inches of fleece material, knitting needles or crochet hooks and yarn.

Future Wrapped in God’s Love service dates are scheduled for Feb. 16, March 16, April 20, Sept. 21, Oct. 19 and Nov. 16 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the YMCA.

The Holy Angels Parish Outreach Committee is an informal group whose mission is to work toward building the kingdom of God through service to others.
