The truth about heroin addiction

In Ohio, heroin is one of the leading causes of accidental death. The Ohio Department of Health and The Ohio Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services agree that the usage of heroin in the state has spiked since 2012 and has reached epidemic proportions.

On May 3, at 7 p.m. in the Versailles School, a panel discussion of leaders in Darke County will each share their perspective information on this drug. Present for the discussion will be Chief Deputy Mark Whittaker (Darke County Sheriff’s Office), Judge Jonathan Hein (Darke County Common Pleas Court), the Rev. Ronald Haft (Parochial vicar for St. Denis, Immaculate Conception, and Holy Family parishes), Dr. Anna Hatic (Family Health Services), Mark McDaniel (Tri-County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services) , Joe Van Vickle (Darke County Coroner’s Office), Nicole Smith, RN (Wayne Hospital)., and Samantha Wolfe (family member). Aaron Moran, superintendent of the Versailles Schools, will be the panel moderator. At the end of this program there will be time to answer questions that the audience might have.

This event is free and open to anyone 12 years old and older who wants to learn about heroin and how this drug affects lives and the whole community.
