SIDNEY — The “Rock the Difference for Heroin Awareness” event at the Shelby County Fairgrounds on Saturday was a success, said event organizer Aaron Frohna.

“I couldn’t be more pleased with how smooth the event went and the testimonies were an absolute inspiration too not only myself but, countless others who have been affected,” he said.

Roughly 700 people came through the door and $1,640 was donated to Community Housing of Darke, Miami & Shelby Counties Inc., a provider to Tri-County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services.

Frohna said moving forward there are talks about having another event planned for 2017.

“At first thought, I planned on hosting in different counties every third year. Now that I think about it. I believe I will host this event in Shelby County yearly so we can build the name. I want to continue my relationship with Tri County Board of Recovery and Mental Health Services. Having all proceeds go towards them,” he said.

About 10 or more cases of water were also donated to the Shelby House, on Saturday, a halfway house in Sidney. Guest speakers and musical performances filled the event from 11 a.m. to 11:30 p.m.

“Bringing people that normally might never meet is what I’m all about doing. Everyone’s professionalism and information that they addressed was something I could not do on my own. It was quite possibly one of the best days of my life,” he said. “Together we did Rock the Difference.”
