Wednesday was opening day for the Shelby Oaks Ladies League, and not even frigid temperatures and rain was going to interfere.

The league got its first session in despite the weather. The play was a mixer scramble held on the west course, and 18 players braved the elements to take part.

The team of Nancy Walter, Karen Dickman and Trish Hoying took first place with a 39, two strokes better than the threesome of Pris Reier, Linda DeVelvis and Sandy Weaver.

Third, 42 — LuAnn Fultz, Lea Muhlenkamp, Linda Spanger.

Fourth, 44 (3-way tie) — Deb Goffena, Julie Romaker and Roxy Shepherd; Faye Spangler, Rita Brinkman and Joyce Jones; Joyce Wick, Meggan Weaver and Mary Lou Berning.
