SIDNEY – The Sidney-Shelby County YMCA held its 32nd Annual YMCA “Golf for Kids” tournament this week 21 at Shelby Oaks Golf Course.

The 18-hole event that featured a 9-hole Scramble and a 9-hole Calcutta, kicked off with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Over 60 golfers participated and had a chance to win a prize at every hole, including a chance to win a new Ford F150 courtesy of Buckeye Ford.

“We are especially thankful to all of our tournament players and sponsors,” said Ed Thomas, CEO of the Sidney-Shelby YMCA. “With their support, this year’s tournament raised close to $20,000, for our Community Partners Campaign.”

Tournament awards went to the team of Dave and Mike King in the scramble, with second place going to Rudy Keister and Joshua Ross.

Winners of the Calcutta were Dave and Mike King, with second place going to Randy Rose and Paul Bremke.

The overall team champions with a “clean sweep” were the father/son team of Dave and Mike King.

The putting contest winner was Dave Russell.

The YMCA Golf for Kids tournament helps support over 2,000 individuals in the community, mostly kids, who receive financial assistance for membership and program activities at the YMCA. This assistance helps provide opportunities for such things as teen leadership programs, swimming lessons, child care and many other services. Thanks to events like this, the Sidney-Shelby County YMCA is able to provide kids with life-enriching activities that may not exist for them otherwise.
