Staff report

Fort Loramie’s Jared Hoying had a good start to his second stint this season with the Texas Rangers, going 2 for 2 Wednesday night in an 11-6 loss to the Boston Red Sox at Fenway Park.

Hoying was called up for a couple of weeks recently when outfielder Shin Soo Choo went on the disabled list. When he returned, Hoying was sent back down to AAA Round Rock, but on Wednesday, he was called back up just in case Shoo was sidelined again. Shoo took himself out of a game Tuesday due to back stiffness.

Hoying did not start Wednesday’s game, but he entered the game early in left field and went to the plate three times. He singled twice and drove in a run, and walked in his third at-bat.

The Rangers returned home after Wednesday’s game and open a series tonight (Thursday) against the Minnesota Twins.
