The Sidney High girls recorded a key victory in high school soccer on Saturday, shutting out the Troy Lady Trojans to keep their American North Division hopes alive in action at the Sidney field.
The 2-0 victory over the Lady Trojans put the Lady Jackets at 6-1-1 in the North and 7-2-1 overall. Troy is now 6-1-0 and 6-2-2 on the year.
The Lady Jackets got goals from Elaine Wiesenmayer and Jenna Foster-Wheeler, the second one coming with 11:32 remaining in the game to pretty much ice the verdict.
The Lady Jackets are back in action tonight at Fairmont.

Lehman 2, Fenwick 1
The No. 3-ranked Lehman Lady Cavaliers survived a big test on Saturday at home, edging Middletown Fenwick 2-1 in non-league action.
The Lady Cavs go to 9-0-1 with the victory and return to action Thursday at home against Lima Catholic inWestern Ohio Soccer League play.
Fenwick, unranked in the state but the No. 7-ranked team in Division 2 in the latest Miami Valley rankings, is now 2-4-2 on the season.
Lehman’s goals came from Liz Pax and Molly Safreed, off assists from Grace Monnin and Grace Olding.
Jackson Center 2, LCC 1
JACKSON CENTER — The Jackson Center Tigers pulled off their second straight upset, handing Lima Central Catholic its first loss in Western Ohio Soccer League action Saturday at Jackson, 2-1.
The Tigers are in the thick of the league race now at 4-1-0 and are 5-4-1 overall. LCC drops to 6-1-0 and 7-3-0.
Gavin Booser scored a goal for the Tigers, and assisted on the other goal, which was scored by Clay Akers.
The Tigers return to action tonight at home against Fairlawn.
Lehman 2, Greenville 2
Lehman hosted Greenville in non-league play Saturday and the game wound up a 2-2 tie.
The Cavaliers got goals from Jacob Schmiesing and Jake Emrick. Schmiesing was assisted by John Henry Frantz, and Emrick’s goal came on a penalty kick when Conor O’Leary was knocked down in the box.
“This is a good result for our team,” said Lehman coach Tom Wiseman. “Greenville is a good team who has played a great schedule this year.”
The Cavs will complete a suspended game Tuesday at Franklin-Monroe, with the score standing at 1-1.
Fort Jennings 6, NK 2
FORT JENNINGS — New Knoxville lost a non-league game to Fort Jennings Saturday 6-2.
Joseph Baende and Jake Blitch scored the goals for the Rangers.
Knoxville is 1-8-1 on the year.
