ARCANUM — The Division 3 Boys Golf Sectional was held Tuesday at Beechwood Golf Course in Arcanum, and three of the four teams that qualified for the district next week were from Shelby County.

After Mechanicsburg’s 341 took first place, Fort Loramie was second with 347, Fairlawn third with 347, and Lehman fourth with 359. Loramie took second on the fifth scorecard.

They all advance to the district Oct. 6 at Beavercreek Golf Club, where they will try to be one of only two teams that will advance to the state tournament.

In addition, Josh Miller of Botkins qualified for the district tournament as an individual not on a qualifying team. He shot an 81.

Fort Loramie was led by Brad Gottemoeller, who shot an 81. Mitchell Puthoff had an 87, Craig Eilerman 89, Zach Pleiman 90 and Shea Swick 96. Loramie took second on Swick’s score.

Fairlawn got 85s from both Mason Jones and Kody Curtner, an 88 from Jacob Caldwell and an 89 from Nathan Lessing. Ben Brautigam shot a 98.

Lehman was led by Tyler Lachey, who’s 78 was the second-best score of the tournament, behind the 74 of Phillip Miller of Dayton Christian. He was one of only three golfers to shoot sub-80 rounds.

Also for Lehman, Cole Gilardi shot an 85, Ryan Schmidt 87 and Seth Dooley 109. Parker Riley finished at 114.

Jackson Center was seventh with a 380 and led by Bryce Sosby with a 90. Coltin Rose had a 95, Brady Wildermuth 96 and Trent Platfoot 99.

Russia was ninth with a 385. Jack Dapore had a 90, Dylan Cordonnier 92, Clay George 100 and Will Sherman 103.

Botkins was 11th with a 419 and led by Miller. Nick Fischio shot an 88.

Houston was 12th with 431 and led by Tristin Stangel with an 88.

Division 2

In Division 2 Sectional play at Reid Park in Springfield, the top four teams advanced to the district, and the Anna Rockets finished fifth to miss out by one spot Tuesday.

However, two of the Anna golfers advanced on to the district as individuals not on a qualifying team.

Anna shot a 375 to finish behind sectional champion Greeneview (336), West Liberty-Salem (362), Springfield Shawnee (369), and Greenon (374).

Leading Anna were Zach Watren and Mason Platfoot, who both shot 86. And that was good enough to put them in the top four individuals who were not part of the qualifying teams. They tied for seventh overall.

They will now compete in the district Oct. 7 at Glenview Golf Course in Cincinnati, hoping to be among the top three individuals who qualify for the state tournament.

Also for Anna, Eli Kuck was tied for 26th overall and shot a 96, Cole Maurer was 51st with a 107 and Evan Bensman was 58th with a 111.
