Russia wins Versailles Invitational

VERSAILLES — Zach Sherman and Connor Monnin both shot 79 to lead the Russia Raiders to a three-stroke win over Versailles in the annual Versailles Boys Golf Invitational, held Saturday at Stillwater Valley Golf Course in Versailles.

Russia and Versailles call the course home, and when the final standings were tabulated, they were 1-2. Russia finished with a 326 and Versailles was second with 329, two strokes ahead of Miami East. Anna was fourth with a 338.

Sherman and Monnin tied with two golfers from Versailles for runner-up honors. Nicholas Litten-Stonebraker and Jacob Watren also shot 79 for the Tigers. Miami East’s Kley Karadak was the medalist with an 84.

Also for Russia, Jack Dapore and Jonah Counts both shot 84. For Versailles, Kyle Cotner had an 85 and Griffen Riegle 86.

Lehman was led by Tyler Scott with an 83, and Anna got an 81 from Zach Watren, which tied him for the sixth-best score in the tournament.
