BELLEFONTAINE — The Sidney girls soccer team remained unbeaten on the year with a 3-1 victory over previously unbeaten Bellefontaine in non-league action Monday night.

The Lady Jackets are now 3-0-1 and travel to Miamisburg Wednesday.

Emily Wiesenmayer scored two of Sidney’s goals and Elaine Wiesenmayer added the third.

Bellefontaine coach Matt Price told the Bellefontaine Examiner after the game that “Sidney was definitely the best team we’ve seen this year.”

• LIMA — The Lady Jacket girls soccer team went on the road and defeated a good Lima Bath team in non-league action on Saturday, 1-0.

The lone goal came at the 18-minute mark of the first half when Emily Wiesenmayer took a through ball from Emma Dahlinghaus and was able to finish.

“The second half was back and forth and while we had a few opportunites, we were unable to get that cushion goal,” said Sidney coach Stacey Goffena. “We hung tight on the defensive end during their last surge in the final minutes of the game and hung on for the win. Sylvia Hudson came up with some big saves in the goal, and had 12 on the day.

“I’m proud of the way we responded after a loss on Wednesday,” she added. “We were fighting hard and not giving up. We still have some work to do on finishing, but our combination runs and defense was impressive. Last year we lost to this team 3-1 so this was a big win for us.”
