Botkins, Minster remain unbeaten

BOTKINS — The Botkins Lady Trojans continued along unbeaten on the year with a 60-33 domination of visiting Riverside in non-league girls basketball action Thursday.

The win put the Lady Trojans at 6-0 on the season heading into County play Saturday at Houston.

Riverside falls to 1-3 heading into a game at Stivers Saturday.

Botkins jumped to a 16-10 lead after a quarter, but still led by just six at the half at 24-18. The third quarter was the difference, however, with the Lady Trojans raining down six three-pointers in the quarter to outscore the Lady Pirates 24-9.

For Botkins, Sarah Bergman had 23 points and Paige Lane 10. Both hit two threes in the third quarter and Jenna Pitts and Alexa Jones added one each.

For Riverside, Kreglow had 12 points.

Botkins (60) — Pitts 9, Jones 5, Oakley 2, Bergman 23, Lane 10, J. Greve 2, Woodall 9.

Minster 67, Parkway 44

ROCKFORD — The Minster girls also remained unbeaten on the season with a 67-44 rout of Parkway on the road Thursday night.

Minster is 1-0 in the MAC and 3-0 overall and will host Coldwater next Thursday.

The Lady Wildcats exploded out of the blocks for 26 first-quarter points to lead by 19 after one. Parkway cut nine points off that lead by the half, but Minster then scored 22 points in the third quarter to pull away for good.

Courtney Prenger led Minster with 16, and both Rosie Westerbeck and Alli Fischer added 12 points each.

Versailles 51, DSJ 28

VERSAILLES — The Versailles Lady Tigers remained unbeaten on the year at 5-0 with a 51-28 home victory over Delphos St. John’s in Midwest Athletic Conference girls basketball action Thursday.

The win also put the Lady Tigers at 2-0 in the MAC, and they will be back in action Saturday at home against Miami East.

Versailles outscored Delphos 13-6 in the opening quarter and that was important, since the Lady Blue Jays equalled the Lady Tigers in the second quarter at 15 points apiece.

But the second half was all Versailles. The Lady Tigers outscored Delphos 7-2 in the third quarter and 16-4 in the final period to turn the game into a rout.

Kami McEldowney finished with 15 points and hit two threes to lead the Lady Tigers, and Danielle Winner added 12 points.

Delphos (28) — Bacome 7, Schulte 9, Vorst 4, Geise 8.

Versailles (51) — McEldowney 15, Watren 2, Langenkamp 2, Ording 8, Schmitmeyer 4, Ording 6, Winner 12, Marshal 2.

Fort Recovery 38, NK 33

FORT RECOVERY — New Knoxville got 16 points from Kenzie Schroer and 11 from Ashlyn Miller but only six more points were scored by the rest of the Lady Rangers in a 38-33 MAC loss at Fort Recovery Thursday.

The loss leaves the Lady Rangers at 1-4 going into a home game Saturday against Lehman.

New Knoxville trailed 28-17 after three quarters but rallied to make it close, thanks to a pair of threes from Miller.
