MONDAY

Loramie 52, Bremen 35

NEW BREMEN — Unbeaten Fort Loramie found itself in a dogfight at the half Monday night in a makeup boys basketball game at New Bremen.

The Cardinals, still seeking their first win of the season, were tied with the Redskins at the half at 20-20. But Loramie dominated second-half play and pulled away to a 52-35 victory.

The win put the Redskins at 8-0 on the season going into a big game Friday night at Russia in County play.

New Bremen drops to 0-7 on the year and travels to Marion Local Friday night before hosting Celina Saturday.

Fort Loramie scored the first five points of the game, but the Cardinals outscored them 20-15 over the rest of the half and led by as many as six points before Loramie rallied to knot the score at the half.

The problem for the Redskins was foul trouble, with Evan Berning and Dillon Braun both being saddled with two fouls by the middle of the third quarter and Nate Pleiman getting his third with a minute to go before the break.

The Redskins built on that momentum and reeled off the first eight points of the third quarter to take control of the game. They allowed the Cardinals just 15 points in the second half.

“It wasn’t the prettiest of games, but we were able to get a good road win,” said Loramie coach Corey Britton.

Braun led the Redskins in scoring with 16 points, including 4-for-4 from the line. Tyler Siegel finished with a double-double, scoring 13 points and pulling down 12 rebounds. Austin Siegel added 10 points.

Cody Gasson had five assists and four steals, Braun added four assists, and Tyler Siegel also had five blocks.

New Bremen was led by Nolan Bornhorst with 12 points and six rebounds. Brandon Heitkamp led in rebounds with seven, and Koby Paul handed out three assists.

Loramie held the Cardinals to just 12-for-43 from the field for 28 percent.
