DAYTON — The Sidney High bowling teams traveled to Dayton to take on Stebbins, and Lady Jacket bowler Jenna Beatty stole the show.

She led her team to a 2249 to 1877 win by setting a new school two-game series record. She had back-to-back 256 games for a 532 series, and that broke the previous mark of 526 held by Jenna Shaffer.

“Jenna has worked so hard this summer to fix a few kinks in her game, and it is really paying off,” said Sidney coach Trent Knoop. “Last week she broke her career-high series with a 456 against West Carrollton, and she did it again (Thursday), but an even bigger record. Jenna is a very determined person, and she won’t accept anything but perfection. She is off to a great start, and I couldn’t be more happy for her.”

Heather Gold had games of 189 and 204 for a 393 series, Kathryn Saunders rolled a 196 and a 171 for a 367 and Cameron Fogle had a 197 and a 167 for a 364 series.

The girls had a 1910 in regular games and a 338 in baker.

The Lady Jackets are now 3-1 in the American North and 3-4 overall, and have now won three in a row.

• Behind strong series from Josh Abbott and Austin Simon, the Sidney High boys bowling team remained unbeaten on the year at 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the Greater Western Ohio Conference American North Division with a 2292 to 2002 win over Stebbins in action Thursday.

The Yellow Jackets are back in action today at the Buckeye Classic in Columbus.

Abbott had games of 248 and 208 for a 456 series, and Simon 226 and 215 for a 441 series.

Lucas Finke had a 202 and a 172 for a 374 series, and Damion Phillis rolled a team-high 256 in his only game.

Sidney had 1936 in regular games and 356 in baker.

“We were short a guy tonight due to being sick, and I thought we handled ourselves well,” said Sidney coach Trent Knoop. “Damion was a big spark off the bench tonight. He came in and bowled excellent. Probably the best he’s rolled the ball all season long.”
