Sidney High graduate Sylvia Hudson has been sensational for Urbana University of late, registering three straight double-double performances.

She had 17 points and 11 rebounds in a loss to Glenville State, 11 points and 10 rebounds in a loss to Virginia-Wise, and in her most recent game, erupted for 27 points and grabbed 13 rebounds in a win over Concord.

In the latter game, six of her rebounds were offensive, and she was an impressive 12-for-14 from the field.

Combined in the three games, she was 25 for 40 for 63 percent.

On the season, she is now second on the team in scoring with a 13.3 average, and leads the team in rebounds at 7.8 per game.

She is shooting 59 percent from the field and 72 percent from the free throw line.

Trey Elchert, Jackson Center — Elchert had his career high in assists this week for Blufton in a loss to Anderson. He handed out 10 assists and also scored eight points.

Haley Horstman, New Knoxville — Horstman had an excellent week in basketball at Findlay. She had 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists in a win over Wayne State, and 13 points on 6-for-8 field goal shooting in a loss to Hillsdale.

Erin Metz, Jackson Center — Metz was named to the Ohio Community College Athletic Conference All-Academic team for the fall semester. A member of the Edison volleyball team, she carries a 4.0 grade point average.

Allison Watkins, Fairlawn — Watkins was also named to the OCCAC All-Academic team for the fall. A member of the Edison volleyball team, she too carries a 4.0 grade point average.

Courtney Esser, Anna — Esser is another former County player to be named to the OCCAC All-Academic team for fall of 2016. She is on the women’s basketball team at Edison and carries a 3.3 GPA.

Lauren Monnin, Versailles — Monnin is another who is getting the job done in the classroom as well as on the court. She is a member of the women’s basketball team and was also named to the OCCAC All-Academic team for the fall. She carries a 3.5 GPA.

Erica Huber, Anna — Huber had a big week for Ursuline’s women’s basketball team. She had 20 points and was 12 for 14 from the foul line, and also had four assists in a win over Alderson-Broaddus, and had 14 points and seven rebounds in a win over Kentucky Wesleyan. She was 4-for-6 from the field and hit three of her four three-point attempts.

Ryan Bruns, Marion Local — Bruns helped Ohio Northern to a win over Baldwin-Wallace in men’s basketball this week, hitting five of his eight shots from the field, scoring 12 points and grabbing six rebounds. He also had two blocks.

Christa Puthoff, Versailles — Puthoff had a big game for Findlay in a win over Wayne State. She poured in 20 points, was 8-for-12 from the field, hit all four of her free throw attempts and grabbed six rebounds.

Chloe Flora, Botkins — Flora runs track at Dayton and got the indoor season off to a good start in the Buckeye Classic at Ohio State. She ran the mile and placed seventh, running a personal record 5:09.48.

Jessica Boerger, Fort Loramie — Boerger came off the bench to get nine points and 10 rebounds for Ohio Dominican in a loss to 17-0 Ashland this week.

Carson Manger, New Bremen — Manger had 14 points, was 4-for-4 from the line and grabbed six rebounds in a win over Hillsdale. He plays for Lake Superior State.

Emily Harmon, Versailles — Harmon plays for Wilmington College, and in action this week against Muskingum, she finished with 12 points and two assists, and was 6-for-6 from the free throw line.

Holly Frey, Fort Loramie — Frey is playing for Edison State, and in action against Clark State this week, she finished with nine points and was 4-for-5 from the field. She also had three steals.
