Cardinals fall at Covington

COVINGTON — New Bremen was hoping for its second win of the season Tuesday night on a trip to Covington in non-league play, but came up short in a 51-41 verdict.

The loss left the Cardinals at 1-17 going into a double weekend starting with St. John’s at home Friday. The Cardinals then travel to Spencerville on Saturday.

Avery Powers led the Cardinals in scoring with 11 and Nolan Bornhorst added 10, seven of those coming in the final period.

New Bremen (41) — Alig 1, Powers 11, Myers 4, Bornhorst 10, Vonderhaar 5, Messick 2, Heitkamp 8.

Covington (51) — Murphy 3, Pond 11, Parrett 2, Miller 14, Blei 10.
