Loramie Invitational

FORT LORAMIE — Mechanicsburg came away with two wins to take the top spot in the Fort Loramie Invitational Saturday at Fort Loramie.

Mechanicsburg defeated Fort Loramie in the first game 4-2, scoring all its runs in the fourth to overcome a 2-0 deficit at that point.

For Loramie, Abby Holthaus and Grace Ruhenkamp both had two hits. Mary Mayo was 2-for-3 with a double for the ‘Burg.

Mechanicsburg then defeated Tri-Village in the second game by a 5-1 final to finish the day with a 6-7 record.

• Riverside, which came into the tournament with a 15-2 record but shorthanded, lost both its games, 10-4 to Tri-Village and 12-4 to Fort Loramie.

Against T-V, Aubrie Stillings tripled and Courtnie Smith singled and doubled.

Riverside then played Fort Loramie and after falling behind 2-0, Loramie plated eight runs in the second and third innings.

Cassidy Albers was 3-for-3 to lead Loramie’s 14-hit attack, Macy Imwalle singled, doubled, walked twice and scored twice, and Holthaus singled and doubled. Grace Ruhenkamp added two singles and two RBIs.

For Riverside, which had eight hits, Kristin Davidson was 3-for-3 and scored twice, Helena Faulder had two singles and Jordyn Marshall doubled.

“This is the first year for Mechanicsburg to win the invitational,” said Loramie coach Brad Turner. “It was a good day for these four teams to see one another as we head into the tournament voting and tournament draw (Sunday). It is worth noting that Riverside’s No. 1 and No. 2 pitchers were unavailable to play, so these scores might be surprising to some people in the area.”

Turner explained also that the event was run as a showcase due to Mechanicsburg having prom Saturday night and needing to play the first two games of the event. As such, the invitational was played with a set schedule and the tournament winner was determined by won-loss record, runs allowed and run differential.

Mechanicsburg was 2-0, allowed just three runs and had a run differential of six.

Fort Loramie was 1-1, allowed 8 runs and had a run differential of six.

Tri-Village was 1-1, allowed 9 runs, and had a run differential of two.

And Riverside was 0-2, allowed 22 runs, and had a run diffential of 14.
