Lady Cavs close in on title

SIDNEY — The Lehman Lady Cavs cruised to an easy 25-17, 25-14, 25-12 victory over Upper Scioto Valley In Northwest Central Conference volleyball Thursday night.

The win puts the Lady Cavs at 14-6 overall and they clinch at least a tie for the league title at a perfect 6-0 in the NWCC with just one league game remaining. The league title will be Lehman’s third in a row, and the Lady Cavs have yet to lose an NWCC match since joining the league.

All six league wins this year for Lehman have been 3-0.

Upper Scioto Valley is now 9-9 on the year.

Sidney Chapman was too much for Upper Scioto, pounding out 21 kills. Maddy McFarland added 11 kills, and both hit at nearly 50 percent.

Chapman added 10 digs and four assists, Madeline Smith had 37 assists, and Madison Hussey led the defense with 13 digs.

Minster wins 3-2

in MAC match

MINSTER — The Minster Lady Wildcats outlasted Delphos St. John’s in a Midwest Athletic Conference volleyball thriller Thursday, winning 3-2.

The scores were 25-21, 25-23, 21-25, 22-25, 15-7, and the win puts Minster at 3-4 in the MAC and 12-8 overall. Next up is Parkway on Tuesday on the road.

Minster had four players with nine or more kills in the marathon match. Paige Thobe led with 14, Jordyn Heitbrink had 13, Katie Wuebker 12 and Hannah Schmitmeyer nine.

That resulted in Hayley Baumer piling up the assists, 49 in all to go with three service aces and 11 digs. She also had four block assists.

Heitbrink added a team-high four aces and 11 digs, Thobe had six block assists, Wuebker had 15 digs, Rosie Westerbeck 10 digs to go with five kills, Schmitmeyer 21 digs and LeAnn Huelsman a team-high 27 digs.

Lady Rangers lose

in league action

COLDWATER — The New Knoxville Lady Rangers are also 3-4 in the MAC after dropping a 3-1 verdict to Coldwater in action at Coldwater Thursday.

The Lady Rangers fell 25-21, 25-11, 19-25, 25-22 to the Lady Cavs, who are now 17-1 overall and co-lead the MAC with a 7-0 mark.

For the Lady Rangers, who are 11-8 on the year, Kenzie Schroer had 28 assists and 12 digs, Madison Lammers led the offense with 10 kills and also had 11 digs, Rachel Leffel had 21 digs to go with five kills, Ashlyn Miller added 15 digs, Jenna Schwieterman also had five kills, and Abby Lagemann had 18 digs and three ace serves.

The Lady Rangers won the junior varsity game 25-15, 25-14.

New Knoxville is at Lincolnview in non-league action Monday.
