SIDNEY — The felonious assault case of a woman accused of stabbing a man during an argument was bound over to a grand jury in Sidney Municipal Court Monday.

Melissa Olds pleaded not guilty and waived a preliminary hearing and Judge Duane Goettemoeller ordered the case bound over, according to court records. Goettemoeller set bond at $15,000 cash/surety, plus costs, on the condition that Olds have no contact with her alleged victim. Olds remained in the Shelby County Jail Tuesday. The charge is a second-degree felony.

According to a Sidney Police report, police and medics were called to 523 1/2 N. Miami Ave. Sunday at 8:57 a.m. on a report of a fight and someone being stabbed. Police found Rendall A. Vaughn, 27, an occupant of the residence, sitting on the back steps with knife wounds to his face. Police found Olds near the residence and arrested her. Olds, 48, resides at the same address.

Police said the stabbing occurred after a verbal argument between Vaughn and Olds escalated. The Sidney Department of Fire & Emergency Services transported Vaughn to Wilson Memorial Hospital for treatment of his wounds.

Shelby County Jail records show that Olds has been in the jail on numerous charges in the past, including heroin and cocaine possession, drug trafficking, and disorderly conduct.
