Yellow, beef feature in White House Singapore state dinner

WASHINGTON (AP) — High-end American beef and the color yellow feature prominently in the decor for the first White House state dinner for Singapore in more than three decades.

Floral arrangements for Tuesday’s soiree honoring Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong (lee shyehn loong) will consist of yellow orchids, yellow roses and other yellow flowers.

American Wagyu beef, dressed with roasted yams, wilted kale and heirloom carrots, will anchor the main course served to about 200 guests seated in the East Room.

White House officials previewed the dinner for the media on Friday and described yellow as a symbol of the 50-year partnership between the U.S. and Singapore.

R&B and soul singer-songwriter Chrisette Michele is scheduled to provide the entertainment.

The White House last held a state dinner for Singapore in October 1985.
