Carter named to OSBA council

SIDNEY — Gary J. Carter, of Anna, magistrate of the Shelby County Common Pleas Court, was recently appointed to be a member of the Council of Delegates of the Ohio State Bar Association (OSBA).

Carter was appointed by Judge James F. Stevenson, to fill the unexpired term created by the judge’s election to the Board of Governors of the OSBA. Carter, along with eight other council members in District 2, will represent 1,256 attorneys who reside in Darke, Miami, Montgomery, Preble and Shelby counties. The Council of Delegates debates and determines whether to adopt legislative proposals from OSBA committees and sections. Proposals adopted by the Council of Delegates may be approved by the Board of Governors and then become OSBA-endorsed and sponsored bills for the Ohio Legislature to consider.

Carter earned his bachelor’s degree from Wright State University, College of Education, and his law degree from the University of Dayton, School of Law.

The OSBA, founded in 1880, is a voluntary association representing approximately 25,000 members of the bench and bar of Ohio, as well as nearly 4,000 legal assistants and law students. Through the activities of its related organizations, the OSBA serves both its members and the public by promoting the highest standards in the practice of law and the administration of justice.
