SIDNEY — Members of the Shelby County Genealogy Society heard a report by Emily Guinther during their Sept. 8 meeting.
Guinther had completed a geneaology project for 4-H. She reported that she had talked with her grandparents, visited cemeteries and done research in libraries. She learned how to search Internet sites for information and had collected some historical photos.
Guinther learned that she had been born on her great-grandmother’s birthday and that her brother was born on the date that the same great-grandmother died. She also learned that her great-grandfather and great-grandmother were first cousins.
Guinther reported that she earned an honorable mention ribbon at the Shelby County Fair for the project and that she was selected as an alternate to present her project at the Ohio State Fair.
